Position Overview: General Labor (2nd & 3rd Shift – Metal Recycling & Production)
Join a century-old, family-owned metal recycling and manufacturing company as a General Laborer. You’ll work in both material sorting and compaction areas, helping to transform scrap metal into usable ingots. This is a temp-to-hire role with comprehensive benefits starting on day one.
Responsibilities:
Sort incoming scrap metal by hand or using a scanner gun to match delivery tickets.
Operate a sit-down tow motor to move scrap materials and compacted blocks.
Load scrap into Bricker machines for compaction.
Perform housekeeping duties such as sweeping and maintaining clean workspaces.
Follow safety protocols and participate in initial safety orientation and on-the-job training.
Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stand, and move throughout the shift.
Reliable attendance and good attention to detail are essential.
Able to train on 1st shift and work 2nd (3:30 PM–12:00 AM) or 3rd shift (11:30 PM–8:00 AM).
Must be open to overtime and working every other Saturday.
Steel/scrap industry experience preferred; manufacturing background required.
Ability to work in both hot and cold environments and wear a respirator when needed.
