Shear Machine Operator – Train on 1st, Multiple Shifts Available – $17–$19/hr
Location: Westlake, OH
Shifts Available:
1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Training shift for 60–90 days)
2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Pay: $17–$19/hr, based on experience and shift; eligible for raises upon hire
Job Responsibilities
This is a hands-on role in a busy, high-output facility that fabricates aluminum and stainless steel products for the transportation industry. You’ll be operating large Shear Machines used to cut metal according to precise specifications.
During your 60–90 day paid training on 1st shift, you'll learn to:
Operate a metal shear cutting machine
Perform machine setups and make adjustments as needed
Read and interpret work orders and blueprints
Use inspection tools like calipers, tape measures, and micrometers to ensure accuracy
Monitor materials and keep your workstation clean and organized
Once trained, you will transition to your assigned shift and run the Shear Machine independently, making sure each cut meets quality and dimensional standards.
Required Qualifications
Manufacturing machine operation experience required; experience in the steel or metal industry strongly preferred
Experience with Shear Machines or mechanical setup is a big plus and will command a higher starting rate
Strong measuring and inspection skills (tape measure, micrometers, calipers)
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and stand for the entire shift
Comfortable in a loud, active production environment
Strong communication and math skills
Must demonstrate good hand-eye coordination and basic problem-solving ability
